Early Career

I started as an IT contractor picking up odd jobs on Craigslist while attending university. I worked for Geek Squad as a seasonal Field Service Implementation Engineer helping other technicians perform on-site Wi-Fi troubleshooting, performing cable runs, and TV installations.

As my contract with Geek Squad was winding down, I found a great position with Whitaker Parking Systems as an Amano-McGann / Skidata / Federal Parking Systems Technician. During my tenure there, I worked heavily on HID / Transcore RFID and remote computerized access control systems, ensuring PCI-DSS compliance of NCR, Ingenico, Verifone, PDI, Cybera, POS/SCO/POF devices, electro-mechanical Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) troubleshooting, CAT6 Ethernet installation, and legacy RS232 serial-to-ethernet low-voltage communications integration for VOIP(Commend) devices.

Amazon Web Services (AWS)

While I was a parking systems technician I had an opportunity to take a contract position with Amazon Web Services. I excelled in the Data Center Operations contracting role and was brought on full-time. After demonstrating my ability to quickly resolve complicated hardware tickets, Linux RHEL /firmware issues, document my resolutions and disseminate them via the online repo I was promoted to DCO Lead Technician. This role required a variety of skills including L1/L2/L3 fiber optic network troubleshooting and responsibilities from technical escalation point for a team of 20 junior DCO technicians across 3 Data Centers, liaising with external vendors deploying new infrastructure, remediation of enterprise level networking equipment within tight SLA time frames, becoming the USA-East training curriculum designer for Data Center Operations in Dulles, VA., overseeing the buildout of twelve 200k+ sqft datacenters, and SOP/MOP creation to limit the blast radius for external stakeholders at Fortune 500 companies.

Charter Communications / Spectrum ISP

I continued to build on my networking experience as a Fiber Optic Networking Specialist contractor in the Enterprise Technical Support group at Charter Communications / Spectrum. After demonstrating my ability to help large enterprise customers troubleshoot network connectivity and bandwidth utilization impacting events on multi-vendor networks, I was converted to a full-time employee as a Network Engineer in the Enterprise Technical Support (ETS) group focusing on Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) L2VPNs: Carrier Ethernet / Metro Ethernet (EVPL, E-LINE, ELAN, etc.).

Daily's / First Coast Energy

At Daily's I perform internal information security audits utilizing rameworks like NIST, MITRE, and ISO 27001. I create support systems for the internal IT team such as trouble ticket templates, root-cause analysis workflows, and methods of procedure (MOPs) to meet business requirements. I develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for integration, remediation, and deployment of enterprise server, networking, PLC, and point of sale (POS) hardware. I coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to negotiate hardware repairs, maintenance, and RMAs under warranty. I develop Splunk dashboards and reports to simplify the monitoring of over 80 satelite locations. I provide an escalation path for co-workers onsite in an on-call, 24/7/365, high-availability environment. I create batch, registry, and Powershell scripts for server maintenance and repetitive tasks. I also oversee the deployment and integration proprietary low-voltage media converters and PLCs.

I prefer to work with AWS cloud, Fortinet NGFWs, RHEL/Kali Linux, Python/bash scripting, Oracle SQL DBs, Splunk, and any weird/unique networking hardware {Nokia-Alcatel GPON, this means you. : ) } in addition to Cisco and Juniper. In the past I have worked a lot with HTML/CSS/JS, C/C++, and Java at university. In my professional career I utilized a ton of different technologies. Trouble ticketing systems like BMC remedy, Jira, and SysAid. I've also worked with a variety of software/firmware packages from vendors like Amano-McGann, Atlassian Suite, Beeline, Cisco, Commend, Dell, DoorKing, HID, HIKvision, HPE, Juniper, Lenel, Microsoft Active Directory, MS SQL Server 2012, NCR, Oracle SQL, PDI, Quanta, Quantum, Salesforce, SAP Fieldglass, Skidata, Splunk, Zebra, ZT, and the list goes on.

Education and Certifications

I'm studying Cybersecurity Policy & Management at University of Maryland Global Campus. I previously attended Temple University for Computer Science and I'm an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and a Comptia Network+ certification holder. I'm also studying for my Comptia Security+ certification.

In my free time I like to build IT/coding projects, read, lift weights, and golf.
